PAKISTAN and Aatish Taser On The Death of His Father.

  1. A very interesting Interview on BBC World Service early this morning with Aatish Tazeer, most moving and shocking. Shocking regards the reaction in Pakistan to the murder of his father and how fundmentalist extremists rechoiced. How the Pakistan state proved so gutless in their reaction and lack of sympathetic response. What really shocked me was the declaration that his father had been made a target and that any Muslim that killed him would be forgiven by Allah! Why is it moderate Muslims proclaim constantly that their religion is not a violent religion of persecution and yet there is so much violance being committed in name of their religion? The truth is of course all religions are prone to being up for persecution and as often as not in their history extremly violent, just look at history of Christianity and Judasism, see the Old Testament and ultra Jewish attitudes and behaviour towards Palestinians today. All religions can be good, bad and down right ugly, no doubt Islam can be the same particularly while illiteracy and ignorence prevails. Whatever, Moderate Muslims world wide need to be taming their beast and some how I do not tihnk that further 'Western Crusader' adventures as now in Libya are going to help but only worsen an already 'pit of hell' that the Muslim World is sliding into year after year. Libya is an Arab problem, let the Arab League deal with it, the West must take their Hands of Libya before they bury themselves up to their necks in the hot sands of the desert.
